Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior EHS Engineer to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA on the night shift - 7:30pm - 5:30 am 4 days a week. This opportunity is due to growth in our largest US facility.
The Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer assist and drives in the continual improvement and maintenance of a comprehensive EHS program.
Main Job Duties:
- Under the leadership of the EHS manager, the Sr EHS Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Starline’s Canonsburg facility is in compliance with all state, federal, DEP, and OSHA regulations regarding health and safety
- Engage with site’s stakeholders to promote and drive a culture of EHS mindset
- Maintain and enhance an existing Emergency Action Plan, Legal Register, and Risk Management System
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, including job hazard analyses and process safety evaluations, to proactively identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
- Run activities related to environmental compliance, reporting, regulatory permitting, hazardous waste handling, and waste reduction/recycling programs
- Oversee maintenance of all safety records including the SDS database and OSHA 300 log
- Monitor trends related to employee work-related injuries
- Ensure compliance of the on-site wastewater treatment plant
- Ensure all company vehicles are within Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance
- Lead monthly safety meetings, reporting safety metrics, and departmental safety audits
- Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to identify and implement effective health and safety solutions during the design and launch of new products.
- Demonstrate high standards of conduct and integrity
- Additional duties as required by management
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in related field, Safety, Environmental sciences, or an engineering degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification is a plus.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams with diverse backgrounds and skill sets
- Ability to host and present safety topics to large groups
- Solid problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- 5 - 7 years of experience in an EHS role required
- ISO 14001/45001 experience internal or Lead Auditor (preferred)
- Strong documentation skills with revision control
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to train and certify PIV operators in accordance with OSHA requirements and maintain a robust PIV program.
Personal Qualities/Behaviors:
- Ability to work Night Shift from 7:30pm-5:30am 4 days a week, flexible on which days (ex: Mon- Thurs or Wed - Sun).
- This position will have exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required
- Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods of time
- Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently
