Maintains health information in both paper files and electronic systems. Reviews charts for accurate information, processes release of information requests (ROI), and locates and delivers medical and dictation records. May mentor and train staff and help guide work for associate and intermediate staff.

This position is full-time, Monday – Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends. Our office is located at 2925 Chicago Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55407.

We offer 2-3 weeks of paid training. The hours of training will be based on your schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and maintains health information records.
  • Reviews electronic chart documentation ensuring correct patient, location, and no duplicate information.
  • Processes release of information (ROI) requests.
  • Manages requests for documentation and information.
  • Scans and edits documents in the electronic medical record.
  • Locates, logs, retrieves, files, and delivers medical records stored in various mediums and systems.
  • Distributes reports and results.
  • May train and mentor co-workers.
  • Analyzes documentation and tracks completion to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Promotes principles of health information accuracy, transparency, currency, accessibility, relevancy, and reliability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a customer service environment. You’ll need to be efficient, productive, and thorough dealing with our members.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 2+ years of customer service experience in a healthcare setting
  • 2+ years of clerical or administrative experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with Microsoft Word (create, edit and save documents), Microsoft Excel (create, edit and save spreadsheets) and Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)
  • Ability to work our normal business hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm CST, Monday-Friday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years medical terminology experience
  • 2+ years experience working in a health related environment
  • 2+ years experience in health information management (HIM)
