As the Chief Operating Officer for the largest outpatient behavioral healthcare system in the country, you will work collaboratively across Optum Behavioral Care (OBC) to provide matrixed leadership in the following areas: strategic, operational, and fiscal. You will be directly responsible for all operations within OBC and ensure that the organization has the proper operational controls, administrative & reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization (while ensuring financial strength and operating efficiency).

Specific responsibilities will include:
- Provide strategic and operational direction in conjunction with the President, OBC and the OBC Leadership Board
- Responsible for the output of the entirety of OBC operations
- Coordinate operations between organizations and revise objectives in response to internal and external conditions
- Collaborate effectively with physician and broader clinical leadership within and across national OBC footprint to help drive national clinical initiatives
- Manage national and regional operations in a matrixed environment including, yet not limited to: daily operational duties; management of internal and external leaders and teams; accountability for financial and non-financial results (budgets and actuals)
- Align with Optum Health Regional structure to develop short-term and long-term revenue and profit objectives, as well as business operations performance goals
- Monitor operational and financial results to assess progress against targets
- Drive cross functional projects/programs/initiatives through the development of key milestones, project plans and policy development
- Lead training initiatives to ensure comprehension and integration of policies/procedures
- Review, create, and maintain national standard workflows for 45+ behavioral health therapeutics to ensure they are up-to-date and operationally efficient
- Provide guidance, expertise, and assistance to internal and external partners (patient access centers, outbound call centers, credentialing, etc) to ensure programs and strategies are implemented and maintained effectively
- Provide input to internal and external stakeholders (sales, shared business partners, etc) to drive effective business planning and sales strategy development
- Contribute to the development and execution of effective growth strategies and processes on behalf of the larger organization
- Track national, regional, and local metrics utilizing internal dashboards and processes to ensure financial performance, operational effectiveness, and meet quality and patient safety expectations
- Collaborate with core leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and people designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization
- Network and partner with healthcare leaders in target markets to enhance community and physician relations while partnering with members of the senior leadership team to achieve an integrated, efficient healthcare system
- Utilize stakeholder input to help shape and implement continuous improvement in operational quality and financial performance
- Participate in leadership readiness and job expansion activities to ensure innovation and implementation of best practices, organizational sustainability, and continuity of business operations
Required qualifications:
- 10 + years of leadership experience in healthcare or provider group operations
- Direct or indirect P&L or revenue cycle experience
- Deep knowledge of care delivery operations
- Proven success leading an organization through significant change
- Track record of holding people accountable
- Comfort with and demonstrated ability to constructively work though conflict
- History of leadership in matrixed and team-oriented environments
- Willing & able to travel at least 25% to build relationships & execute duties in market
Preferred qualifications:
- Behavioral Health experience
- Understanding of Payer relationships (from the Provider point of view)
- Call Center Operations
- EMR rollouts
- Dyad partnership skills
- Advanced degree in business related field
