Manager, Strategy & Operations (New Bets)
Flex
Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2026 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?
About the role
The Manager, Strategy & Operations – New Bets sits at the center of Flex’s newest product expansions and growth initiatives. This role is designed for a strategic problem solver who is equally comfortable shaping growth strategy as they are translating ideas into execution.
You will support strategy and operations across early-stage products and new business lines, helping define where we play, how we win, and how we scale sustainably. Your work will span growth strategy, goal setting, financial and economic modeling, competitive and market research, and data-driven decision making. This role offers meaningful exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to help shape Flex’s next phase of growth.
You will report to the Head of Strategy & Operations - New Bets and work closely with the broader Strategy & Operations, as well as New Verticals leadership team. This is an ideal role for someone energized by ambiguity, excited by 0-to-1 builds, and motivated by seeing strategy turn into real outcomes.
This role is hybrid with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in our New York headquarters.
What you’ll do
- Own end-to-end strategic problem solving for new product expansion, from framing ambiguous questions to delivering clear recommendations and driving follow-through
- Define growth and revenue strategy by identifying where to play and how to win, and translating strategic choices into concrete priorities and roadmaps
- Build and manage financial and economic models to assess new opportunities, investment tradeoffs, and scaling paths
- Lead pricing and unit economics analyses to inform product design, monetization, and go-to-market decisions
- Conduct market, customer, and competitive research to surface insights on trends, unmet needs, and competitive dynamics
- Partner cross-functionally with Revenue, Marketing, Product, Data, Finance, and the Rent division to operationalize strategy and ensure executional alignment
- Establish goals, success metrics, and operating cadences to track performance, unblock teams, and keep initiatives moving forward
- Communicate insights and recommendations to senior leaders, synthesizing complex analyses into clear, executive-ready narratives
Who you are
- 3–4 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, or a similar role
- Bonus: experience working at or with a startup, especially in an early-stage or fast-scaling environment
- Thrive in ambiguity and enjoy building things from scratch; 0-to-1 work excites you
- Entrepreneurial, scrappy, and biased toward action - you don’t wait for perfect information to move forward
- Very strong business modeling skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong bar for analytical rigor and work quality
- Comfortable juggling multiple workstreams and adapting quickly as priorities evolve
- Strong communicator who can translate complex ideas into clear insights for diverse stakeholders
