Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Laboratory Operations Technician to support the operational infrastructure of our Analytical Sciences Lab. This non-testing, operations-focused role is critical to ensuring the lab runs smoothly, safely, and in full compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be proactive, hands-on, and skilled in managing lab systems, equipment readiness, and documentation workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily lab operations, including inventory management, reagent/media preparation, and supply restocking.
- Safely handle and transport compressed gases and cryogenic liquids in accordance with safety protocols.
- Monitor, clean, and maintain controlled temperature units, fume hoods, and biological safety cabinets (BSCs).
- Track and document equipment maintenance, calibration, and readiness using electronic systems.
- Coordinate cross-functional lab support workflows using digital platforms and scheduling tools.
- Manage lab documentation systems, including logbooks, paper notebooks, and reconciliation of records.
- Assist with planning and execution of recurring equipment maintenance and calibration activities.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly labeled lab spaces to meet internal and external compliance standards.
- Support weekend and overtime schedules as needed to ensure uninterrupted lab operations.
- Operate in environments handling potent chemical compounds, strictly following all safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Associate degree (AS) in Life Sciences, Operations, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience in lab operations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with a high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer applications and electronic documentation systems (e.g., LIMS, CMMS).
- Ability to meet physical demands, including:
- Lifting 25 lbs. or more
- Standing/walking for extended periods
- Pushing/pulling carts and equipment
- Bending and reaching for supplies
- Familiarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) preferred.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
- Authorized to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.

Additional Details:
The position is full-time, Sunday-Thursday, with the hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Rensselaer, New York are encouraged to apply.
