Job Description

EAG has an exciting opportunity for a Materials Scientist to join the dynamic Dual Beam Analysis team.

Primary function includes metrology analysis, physical failure analysis and TEM sample preparation of lamella for imaging of client samples using Dual Beam FIB tools. The successful candidate will work as a part of a team and be expected to rapidly gain a working knowledge of many analytical techniques.

In this role, you will perform hands-on analysis of advanced materials and electronic devices, support client-driven research and development programs, and provide data that drives critical design and manufacturing decisions. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role that requires technical excellence, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. You will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of industries including semiconductors, electronics, energy storage, and advanced materials, and to grow as a recognized expert in Dual Beam analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality TEM lamella using Dual Beam FIB techniques for advanced imaging and characterization.
• Perform metrology and physical failure analysis to support client requests across a wide range of materials and devices.
• Operate and maintain Dual Beam FIB instruments, ensuring accurate and reproducible data collection.
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients to interpret data, troubleshoot issues, and deliver actionable results.
• Document findings in clear, concise technical reports and communicate results effectively to clients.
• Contribute to process improvements, method development, and knowledge sharing within the team.

Work Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday, *5:00PM - 2:00AM *(+10% shift differential will apply)

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or related field or equivalent industry experience.
• Hands-on experience with focused ion beam (FIB), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), or transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is strongly preferred.
• In depth knowledge of electron microscopy, semiconductor device physics and failure analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on complex materials challenges.

This position works with companies that deal with defense-related activities and is subject to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). All considered applicants must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR:

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office or laboratory to access file cabinets, machinery, equipment etc.
• Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time
• Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
• Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota

Additional Information

*Compensation Range: $110,000 - $125,000 base salary. (Salary is commensurate with experience and degree of technical expertise. *Additional evening shift differential will apply.)
