Job Description

  • Prepare complex cell culture media at various scales with precision and consistency to support iPSC differentiation workflows, ensuring timely and accurate formulation execution.
  • Interpret, follow, and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the preparation of reagents, stock solutions, and media formulations.
  • Monitor and manage expiration dates of stock solutions and media batches to maintain compliance and quality standards.
  • Maintain a detailed and up-to-date media inventory database for raw material tracking, lot usage, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Accurately document all work in the electronic lab notebook (ELN) system, perform independent data analysis, and communicate results clearly in both written and verbal formats.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and technical procedures, completing all required training within designated timelines.
  • Perform advanced algebraic calculations to determine critical formulation parameters such as molarity, molality, and solution concentrations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Calculate precise component volumes using complex formulas to ensure exact proportions in both experimental and production settings.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to media preparation and address deviations as needed to maintain workflow continuity.
  • Collaborate with process development teams to optimize media formulations for scalability, reproducibility, and cost-effectiveness in high-throughput environments.
  • Utilize automated systems (e.g., liquid handlers, robotic mixers, and automated dispensers) to enhance the efficiency, consistency, and traceability of media preparation processes.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, or a related field
    • Bachelor’s degree with 1–2 years of relevant experience, or
    • Master’s degree with less than 1 year of relevant experience
  • Proven proficiency in aseptic techniques and preparation of reagents, stock solutions, and complex cell culture media
  • Strong command of algebraic calculations, including molarity, percentages, and solution component volumes
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and laboratory best practices
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work with an understanding of its impact on downstream processes
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-based laboratory environment and contribute effectively to cross-functional project teams
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restrictions or the need for sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated laboratory systems such as liquid handlers, robotic mixers, or automated dispensers
  • Background supporting or operating in high-throughput or high-volume laboratory settings

Additional Details:

Position is Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with occasional weekends (once every 1-2 months) to support cell culture. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
