GENERAL FUNCTION
This role will report to the Director of Technical Accounting for North America, responsible for technical accounting application and specials projects for the Accounting NAM organization.
The focus of this position is to provide technical accounting research and documentation to support the Director of Technical Accounting in solving complex issues. The role will also include assisting with the integration initiatives inside the NAM Scope, and helping to identify and initiative process improvements, standardization, and governance across NAM Accounting.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide guidance, support and solutions to the accounting team and finance organization in reference to technical accounting matters.
- Help to create a set of guidelines/policies related to complex accounting topics such as Asset acquisition and Business combination accounting, Consolidation models, Legal entity restructuring, Revenue Recognition, Non-routine transactions etc.
- M&A due diligence and valuations.
- Follow projects throughout the development phase and through system implementation.
- Write technical memos to document conclusions and create presentations to discuss accounting considerations with senior leadership.
- Discuss/align the results of the accounting determinations with external auditors and other third parties.
- Work with several stakeholders to validate future structure from an accounting standpoint (Legal entity rationalization, reporting packages, consolidation and flows)
- Work with the NAM Accounting Integrations team and Head of Accounting to prioritize the integration activities of the department
- Support the creation of an internal standardization roadmap and work with Global Business Services to appropriately allocate activities
- Propose process improvement actions
- Assessment of newly acquired entities: Preliminary work (staffing needs, strategy, transition plan and associated risks) and agree with the broader team on the future model,
- Ensure that the newly integrated business units will follow EL Accounting Policy and processes (reconciliations, manual journal entries, etc.)
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in finance or accounting or other degree with previous experience in finance.
- Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in Accounting, Shared Services, BPO or public accounting firm
- Experience with international or large multinational company or international consulting firm
- Proficiency in GAAP/IFRS
- Aptitude for data crunching and visualization is key
- Excel proficiency is required
- Customer-oriented mindset
- Proven experience in projects involving internal stakeholders (business departments, other finance departments) and external consultants
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in public accounting (specifically audit) is highly desirable
- CPA is highly desirable
- Proven experience working with ERP, SAP is highly desirable
