GENERAL FUNCTION

The Counsel will support all divisions of EssilorLuxottica’s North American business, assisting the Real Estate Legal team. The Counsel role will be primarily responsible for drafting and negotiating retail leases, providing advice and counsel on a variety of real estate matters and reviewing other related commercial agreements and transactional matters.

This position is based in New York City, New York.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft, review and negotiate leases for store locations, office spaces, logistic and distribution centers
  • Support other business units on real estate matters (e.g., lease interpretation, lease review, SNDA, options, terminations, dispute resolutions, store maintenance issues)
  • Support lease administration supervision and process management
  • Perform a variety of routine legal assignments and projects
  • Keep informed of legislation and new regulations affecting various company operations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • JD from an accredited law school and excellent academic background
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one US State
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience with private law firm or corporate legal department (or a combination thereof) in real estate
  • Superior writing, communication, and research skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Motivated, self-starter
  • Ability to work independently, yet collaborate effectively with other attorneys, paralegals, and business partners
  • Flexible with ability to provide real-time advice and counsel
  • Ability to adapt to constantly shifting priorities, and allocate resources appropriately
  • Ability to identify opportunities to create and improve process systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Project management training or experience
  • Retail industry experience

​Pay Range: 134,200.40 - 190,773.20

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package. Benefits may include health care, retirement savings, paid time off/vacation, and various employee discounts.
