What You Can Expect
As a Senior Engineer – Instrumentation & Controls (I&C), you will be part of the Capital Projects Engineering Team, reporting to the Director of Engineering. You’ll lead the I&C scope for both existing operations and new capital or brownfield projects. Your role includes validating internal designs and coordinating with contractors, utilities, and stakeholders. You’ll also serve as a key liaison with ENGIE’s global technical centers of excellence.
• Develop control systems for utility processes, including power generation and distribution networks.
• Provide technical leadership on the design, installation, and commissioning of plant control systems and instrumentation.
• Oversee engineering contractor progress to ensure compliance with project timelines, quality standards, and codes.
• Select appropriate instruments and actuators to monitor and control key parameters like voltage, pressure, and flow.
• Review and enhance process automation to ensure operational reliability and minimal manual intervention.
• Support system integration and commissioning, resolving issues across construction and post-commissioning phases.
What You’ll Bring
• You must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or possess equivalent experience.
• You bring at least 5 (five) years of experience in C&I installation, field inspection, operations troubleshooting, and commissioning within power, utility, or district energy systems.
• You have hands-on experience with control systems used in power generation and/or district energy plants, including emissions control, and boiler, chiller, and turbine controls.
• You understand control loop design and implementation to optimize operational efficiency in utility plants and distribution systems.
• You demonstrate expertise in plant control and automation systems (PLC, DCS), networking communications, programming languages, and advanced field instrumentation.
• You are familiar with SCADA, HMI design, PI, WebCTRL Building Energy Modeling/Automation Systems (BAS), and fault detection diagnostic (FDD) systems.
• You possess knowledge of industry standards such as UL, IEC, ISO, IEEE, and other relevant design codes.
• You can manage multiple assignments independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• You prepare instrumentation diagrams, process control narratives, instrument lists, and I/O lists for both project design and ongoing maintenance.
• You identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain cost and schedule targets.
• You troubleshoot equipment and software issues, maintain and upgrade SCADA systems, and monitor PLC circuits.
• You monitor I&C systems for cybersecurity threats that could impact plant or facility operations.
• You write and review sequences of operation (SOO) for plant and building equipment and systems.
Additional Details
• This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy;
• Must be available to travel domestically up to 30% of the time
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record;
• Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;
• This position consists of up to 30% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
Compensation
Salary Range: $103,950 – $159,390 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
