What We’re Looking For:
The Privacy Operations Manager will act as the primary contact for internal privacy inquiries, incident response, guidance creation, training oversight, and team communications. This role involves supporting the 2U Privacy Team in assessing, planning, and executing strategic initiatives related to international privacy and data protection. A core responsibility is project development and implementation, including creating clear project plans based on legal analyses, monitoring progress, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely completion. Finally, the manager will collaborate closely with the Privacy Team and business stakeholders to implement privacy and compliance controls for 2U’s handling of personal data.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Manage Internal Privacy Queries: Operate as first point of contact for privacy-related questions from 2U staff, including managing inquiries or minor incidents through the compliance and privacy service desk, managing the 2U Privacy team’s internal communications strategy.
- Privacy Project Management: Documenting and managing the privacy team’s key implementation projects, including annual updates to all 2U privacy notices, or other projects to ensure 2U’s compliance with regulatory obligations or industry changes that impacts 2U’s business.
- Manage Data Subject Rights (DSR) Program: Oversee the end-to-end process for handling Data Subject Requests (DSARs, erasure requests, etc.), including request intake, response drafts, training and managing the technology teams who support implementation and ensuring compliance with required timelines.
- Maintenance and Operational Management of the Privacy Team’s role in Vendor Due Diligence: Collaborate with Procurement and Legal teams to ensure a smooth process for integrating privacy into our vendor onboarding process and support the privacy team’s Privacy Assessment Processes, including operationalizing Privacy Threshold Assessments, driving and supporting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and conducting annual audits of our existing PIAs. This could also include conducting non-contentious Privacy Threshold Assessments.
- Maintain Detailed and Accurate Privacy Documentation: Drive the collection, verification, and maintenance of accurate data mapping, Records of Processing Activities, and other privacy related documentation in partnership with product and engineering teams.
- Training and Awareness: Responsible for the execution of 2U’s Privacy and Cybersecurity Awareness programs, including creatively planning and executing communications, training, events, media, and other initiatives to promote Privacy and Cybersecurity across 2U; creating and managing privacy and compliance guidance; and overseeing 2U’s privacy training program.
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5+ years experience as a Project Manager.
- 2+ years working on privacy or technology issues.
- Experience managing multiple projects and relationships, including working with stakeholders and external vendors.
- Familiarity with or understanding of how to support business products such as Salesforce, AWS, Jira, GitHub, and other similar systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Other Attributes That Will Help You In This Role:
- Certification as a Privacy Program Manager preferred.
While this position is open to remote candidates across the U.S., we will prioritize those who live in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and who are available to come into our Headquarters in Arlington, VA two days a week.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is ($100,000 - $124,000), with potential bonus eligibility. Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, budget for the position and cost of labor in the market in which the candidate will be hired.
