About the Role:

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced literacy education leader who will be able to speak about the importance and components of a coherent literacy curriculum, the current challenges facing education and literacy achievement, key perspectives of what teachers and administrators' value, and appropriate and innovative uses of technology to support literacy development. The Director, Literacy Curriculum & Assessment will oversee the literacy team, understand their current work and how it supports our near- and long-term strategies, and collaborate with customer facing teams (product marketing, marketing, sales) to present/demo the literacy curriculum and support writing and reviewing RFP’s.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Oversee development of the curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy for DreamBox’s two literacy solutions, Reading Park and Reading Plus.
  • Lead and manage a team of content and curriculum developers who create student-facing literacy content that is standards-aligned, vertically aligned, research-based, competitively differentiated, equity-oriented, personalized, enjoyable, and honors every student’s brilliance.
  • Ensure the design of student learning experiences in literacy align with research-based best practices and learning science about how students develop foundational literacy, reading comprehension, writing, and other key literacy understandings and skills.
  • In partnership with our Product Management and Product Marketing teams, develop a strategic literacy curriculum roadmap that serves the broader product roadmap, business strategy, and market opportunities.
  • Support the development of literacy reports and data reporting features for learning guardians (teachers, administrators, literacy specialists, coaches, home parents/guardians) that ensure student progress, growth, and proficiency are not only accurately communicated but also provide unique insights that provide competitive advantage in the marketplace and support student learning in powerful ways.
  • In partnership with our Sales and Marketing teams, serve as an internal and external ambassador for the vision and value of DreamBox's Literacy programs, including support for strategic prospect and client engagements, empowering client-facing teams with content, and collaborating with strategic advisors and experts in the field of literacy.

About You:

  • 10+ years of literacy education experience, with a deep understanding and application of the science of reading.
  • 5+ years of experience as a school district administrator or in a similar leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in developing and creating curriculum, assessments, and literacy instruction, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based reading instruction.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of successfully leading and managing teams in the development of curriculum and assessment solutions while incorporating the science of reading.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans, ensuring the integration of the science of reading throughout all aspects of literacy instruction and assessment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills to engage stakeholders at all levels, effectively conveying the importance of the science of reading in literacy education.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving alignment across departments.
  • Passion for educational equity, personalized learning, and leveraging technology for educational innovation while adhering to the principles of the science of reading.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected base salary range for this position is $133,220 – $195,360 USD annually based on several factors, including experience and geography. This position is also eligible for an annual incentive bonus or sales commission bonus, depending on the role, and benefits that are designed to support you & your family. If you are hired at DreamBox Learning, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on considerations such as geographic location, skills, responsibilities of the role, education, and/or relevant experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the compensation of our current team members as a part of evaluating and extending any final offer.
