Discord's Legal team is looking for a Privacy Program Manager to help protect the privacy of over 200 million monthly users who come to Discord to hang out with their communities. Our Privacy team sits at the intersection of legal compliance, product development, and user trust - ensuring Discord remains a safe place for users to connect while meeting complex global privacy requirements. As part of a lean but mighty team, you'll drive operational excellence in our privacy programs while working closely with privacy engineers, data governance, and product counsel to scale privacy protections across our platform. This role will report to Discord’s Senior Privacy Manager.
What you'll be doing
- Conduct assessments of global privacy requirements and audit existing practices to identify compliance gaps
- Manage privacy project implementation with clear priorities, timelines, and deliverables while ensuring effective stakeholder communication to keep critical initiatives on track
- Drive cross-functional coordination with Data Governance, Policy, and Compliance teams to ensure aligned privacy initiatives across Discord
- Define, track, and socialize metrics that demonstrate both risk reduction and business enablement, translating complex privacy concepts into actionable insights
- Partner with our privacy engineering team to design and improve our privacy compliance program with a focus on automation, efficiency, and long-term scalability
What you should have
- 5+ years of experience in privacy program management, compliance, or related field at a tech company
- Strong project management skills with proven ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, legal, product, and compliance
- Knowledge of global privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, with COPPA experience being a plusExcellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical privacy concepts for diverse audiences
- Strong analytical mindset with experience defining and tracking program metrics
Bonus points
- Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or CIPM preferred
- Experience with gaming platforms, social media, or other consumer technology companies
- Technical background or experience working closely with engineering teams
- Familiarity with privacy engineering tools and automation solutions
- Experience with youth safety and privacy considerations
Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties). Relocation assistance may be available. For this role, there is no formal requirement to work from the office.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $180,000 to $200,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
