We are looking for a Senior Web Development Software Engineer II who is passionate about all things Web Development and Internet.

As a Senior Web Development Software Engineer II at DigitalOcean, you'll work with a team of dedicated, enthusiastic, smart, and experienced engineers to ensure a world class brand presence through the engineering and presentation of our public facing properties. From building features and improvements to our CMS to launching our newest most-impactful products, you’ll make use of your experience in full stack web development to lead initiatives around Infrastructure, Client, Front End, Back End, CI/CD, and DevOps. In addition, you’ll act as a tech lead and subject matter expert and work collaboratively with cross-functional partners to drive product launches, improve internal tooling and workflows, and architectural overhauls to support the next phase of our Web and Brand strategies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and mentor a team of frontend and full-stack engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence.
  • Watch over key marketing properties from a Full Stack perspective, working primarily in Javascript/Typescript, React, and Node.js.
  • Collaborate across the organization and consistently interface with product, design, UX, marketing and other technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Oversee the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and engineering standards.
  • Lead software architecture, design, and optimization of scalable full-stack software solutions, including developing technical strategy and roadmap for our internal systems like our CMS, tooling, open source software, deployment strategy, and operational excellence.
  • Review Pull Requests in a collaborative and supportive mode, surfacing ideal improvements
  • Exhibit strong and confident verbal and written communication skills

What You’ll Bring to DigitalOcean:

  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Expert-level experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, Typescript, React.js, and Node.js. Prior experience with Next.js will go a long way in this role.
  • Experience with foundational backend and infrastructure technologies, like PostgresSQL, Nginx, CI/CD and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in testing, reporting, and collaboration tooling: GitHub, Git, Sentry, Grafana, Elastic, Kibana, or Playwright.
  • Ideal candidates will have experience working on and maintaining high-traffic public-facing websites powered by CMSs with an understanding of technical SEO fundamentals.
  • Solid understanding of full-stack architecture, performance optimization, and scalability principles within an Enterprise-class software system.
  • Able to make effective trade-offs in regards to both engineering and product requirements, while balancing short term and long term needs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience conveying complex ideas in written, verbal and presentational formats to get buy-ins from diverse stakeholders.
  • Ideal candidates have experience in networking and internet engineering best practices.

  • We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is between $154,000 - $192,000 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
