The opportunity:
The Manager, Global Operations is a subject matter expert and an operational leadership role, responsible for the end to end management and execution of shipments for its region. This role is an expert in their area of responsibility with a proven track record of delivering superior service and fostering strong partnerships. In addition, this role is responsible to manage high performing teams, building a culture of growth and development, providing team members an excellent career path. This role is responsible to establish predefined processes and work closely with operational excellence and product teams to develop scalable and standardized processes for all our products and services. This role is responsible for oversight and governance towards internal and external compliance requirements, identifying and mitigating key risks for the company and customers. This role works closely with offices and partners globally to meet key performance indicators and demonstrates high accountability to input and output metrics in their areas of responsibility. This role owns goals to improve quality and cost to serve. This role, on a daily, weekly and monthly basis is responsible for resource planning to expected volumes. In addition, this role works closely with service partners to ensure sufficient capacity to execute planned volumes and resolves capacity gaps in the short term. This role works very closely with its global and regional counterparts in operations to ensure a seamless transaction.
You will:
- Manage and develop a team of individual contributors and supervisors/team leaders, establishing clear growth paths and challenging opportunities for team members
- Manages to internal and external requirements to maintain a high bar in safety, security and supply chain compliance
- Uses data and other insights to problem solve and continuous improvement at scale
- Plans labor and capacity on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and is responsible to work with partners and procurement/contract staffing to solve for immediate needs
- Identifies and monitors process defects that inhibits team members to execute to quality, cost and service goals and works towards reducing defects.
- Runs weekly stand-ups for planning, communication and feedback cadences.
- Sufficient finance controls to eliminate revenue and cost leakage
You should have:
- Business degree in Supply Chain or equivalent experience
- Proven track record in delivering results in cost, quality or service delivered
- Proficiency in speaking and writing English
- 5+ years of experience in cross border supply chains and logistics and/or freight forwarding
- 2+ years in customer facing roles
- Qualified in lean principles, six sigma or equivalent
- Experience in data analytics and programs such as SQL or equivalent
- Spoken/written language skills for countries in your region
- A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
