This position is responsible for supporting the execution of programs to ensure that the company provides a safe workplace for employees and minimizes the impact to the environment with assistance from the EHS Manager and Plant Director. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state and local environment health and safety regulations.
At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist based in Jacksonville, Florida!
Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:
- Research Safety and Environmental regulation and provide support for compliance
- Participate in EHS compliance and management systems inspections
- Assist with the oversight of workers compensation claims and work with case managers on claim management and plan of action
- Supports the EHS Manager in the development of EHS policies, standards and procedures based on regulatory and internal requirements
- Collaborate on the development and integration of safety and environmental programs
- Assists with improvements in safety (WISE2) and sustainability and culture and performance
- Collect EHS metrics and reporting including injury and illness, air, waste, energy and water data
- Prepare Government reports and permits/certifications with assistance from EHS Manager
- Coordinate Emergency response and evacuation planning
- Train others on Job Safety and analysis and risk assessments
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job:
- Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hand/to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch, talk and hear.
- Employee may occasionally lift and or move up to 55 lbs.
- Exposure to moving parts and machines, chemicals and slippery environments.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations.
- Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate.
Engagement in our Integrated Work Systems
Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system and its pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.
Compensation & Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000/year USD.
