About the Role:
The Commercial Counsel at Crunchbase provides legal support to the company, focusing primarily on reviewing and drafting Sales contracts, but also assisting with compliance matters, claims, corporate matters and supporting the continuous improvement of Crunchbase’s legal processes. This role, involves drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements and advising on legal issues related to Sales, product, data privacy/security (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), marketing/advertising and general compliance matters.
What You'll Do:
- Advise internal clients, primarily Sales, on legal issues, manage and communicate risks and opportunities in commercial transactions.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including outbound and inbound Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Data-as-a-Service (DaaS), partnership, vendor, professional service, cloud service, enterprise, marketing and reseller agreements.
- Help our Sales team respond to information security and data collection questionnaires.
- Provide guidance on product, data privacy/security (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), marketing/advertising, employment and general compliance matters
- Draft and implement policies and procedures to ensure adherence to legal best practices.
- Leverage AI-enabled tools to assist with contract intake, template population, drafting, redline comparisons, research and document organization to improve speed and accuracy.
What We're Looking For:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Member of at least one U.S. state bar.
- 1+ years of relevant legal experience.
- Strong business acumen and project management skills.
- Exceptional business negotiation and effective client counseling skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both Legal (in-house and outside counsel) and business team members.
- Experience with or knowledge of privacy laws and compliance issues facing growth-stage technology companies.
- Experience with contract management tools
- Candidates residing in FL, GA, MA, NJ, NY, NC, PA, SC or VA preferred
