Job Description:
We are seeking a senior, hands-on Data Governance Expert with deep expertise in Microsoft Purview Data Governance and strong experience operating in multi-cloud (Azure + AWS) data environments.
This role is focused on enterprise-scale data governance implementation and enablement, using Microsoft Purview as the central governance platform while integrating metadata, lineage, and data quality insights across modern data and analytics ecosystems.
This is not a policy-only or advisory role and not a Microsoft Purview compliance / M365 security position. The successful candidate will combine hands-on Purview execution with governance program design and stakeholder enablement in a regulated enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
Microsoft Purview – Platform Enablement & Operations
Lead the setup, configuration, and operation of Microsoft Purview Data Governance capabilities, including:
Data Map & Catalog
Scanning (structured, semi-structured, cloud sources)
Lineage
Classifications and glossary
Implement metadata harvesting from diverse platforms including:
Azure SQL, Oracle, Data Lakes, Lakehouses
AWS S3 and cloud-native data platforms
BI tools and modern analytics pipelines (including Fabric where applicable)
Develop API-driven automation for metadata ingestion, lineage enrichment, and stewardship workflows
Manage Purview roles, permissions, governance rules, and platform standards
Enterprise Data Governance Program Implementation
Design and operationalize enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, including:
Ownership and stewardship models
Metadata standards and certification workflows
RACI structures and governance operating models
Drive governance adoption across business and technology domains
Establish and track KPIs such as:
Catalog coverage
Lineage completeness
Classification accuracy
Data quality and transparency improvements
Support audit readiness and regulatory evidence using Purview metadata and lineage
Metadata, Lineage & Data Quality Integration
Build and maintain end-to-end lineage across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers
Integrate metadata and lineage with data quality and profiling tools to surface insights within governance workflows
Partner with data engineering teams to embed:
Metadata contracts
Lineage standards
Governance checkpoints into pipelines
Business & Technical Stakeholder Engagement:
Engage with:
Business data owners and stewards
Analytics and AI teams
Data engineering and platform teams
Facilitate governance workshops, lineage walkthroughs, and metadata curation sessions
Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly narratives
Act as a bridge between data governance, analytics, AI, and engineering
Required Qualifications
Technical & Functional Experience
Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview Data Governance, including:
Data Map, Catalog, Scans, Lineage, Classifications, Glossary
Experience working in Azure and AWS-based data ecosystems
Background in data engineering, data architecture, or modern analytics platforms with a strong understanding of data flow
Proven track record implementing enterprise data governance programs from planning through operational execution
Knowledge of metadata standards, lineage frameworks, and data quality concepts
Domain Experience
Experience in financial services or regulated enterprise environments
Familiarity with core data domains such as:
Trades and transactions
Security master and reference data
Portfolio, risk, or performance analytics
Ability to map governance requirements to regulatory and audit expectations
(Asset management experience is not required)
Preferred Qualifications
10–15 years of data governance or data management experience in large enterprises
Experience with complementary governance or lineage tools such as:
Solidatus
Collibra
Alation
Informatica
Relevant certifications (preferred, not required):
Microsoft Azure
DAMA
DCAM
Data Governance or related disciplines

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is: $110,000 - $140,000/ yearly.
Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The base compensation range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Capgemini, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting. This range may be subject to change as permitted by law.
The actual compensation offered to any candidate may fall outside of the posted range and will be determined based on multiple factors legally permitted in the applicable jurisdiction.
These may include, but are not limited to: Geographic location, Education and qualifications, Certifications and licenses, Relevant experience and skills, Seniority and performance, Market and business consideration, Internal pay equity.
It is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the posted compensation range.
In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional compensation such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
