We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled engineer to join our Powertrain Diagnostics team. This role focuses on the development, calibration, and validation of diagnostic strategies for powertrain components across internal combustion, hybrid, and fully electric vehicles.

Your role

• Calibrate diagnostics to ensure accurate failure mode detection while minimizing false positives and false negatives.
• Validate diagnostic software strategies for: Shorted high/low, Open circuits, Rationality, Functionality (LV1 and LV2).
• Write software change requests to enhance diagnostic strategies or reduce warranty costs.
• Support VRT Engineers in resolving Torque Security diagnostic issues during vehicle testing.
• Assist in developing new test procedures for fully electric vehicles.
• Review VRT test results to ensure correct DTCs, MIL activation, and settings.
• Perform DTC validation to confirm MIL/ETC lamp behavior and safe vehicle responses (e.g., limp home mode).
• Validate calibrations in accordance with DVP&R standards.
• Analyze engine scan data with PTSR Reliability Engineers to identify root causes of reliability and durability issues.
• Coordinate responses to fleet issues and support resolution efforts.
• Develop and implement diagnostic requirements for powertrain components (engine, transmission, hybrid, and electric systems) in compliance with CARB regulations.
• Translate high-level functional and safety requirements into technical safety concepts and architectures in line with ISO 26262.
• Support implementation of safety concepts across powertrain components.
• Collaborate with After Sales teams to create and review Diagnostic Synthesis Tables (DST) and Technical Specification Documents (TSD) for
• AKE/BUY components.

Your skills and experience

• Strong expertise in OBD diagnostics and powertrain systems.
• Experience with diagnostic calibration and validation in both combustion and electrified powertrains.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262 and functional safety concepts.
• Ability to analyze diagnostic data and develop actionable insights.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering and support teams.
