NVH Propulsion Performance Engineer
Your Role:
As an NVH Propulsion Performance Engineer, you will lead NVH activities on propulsion systems, both conventional and electrified, across all responsible programs. Your responsibilities will include ensuring NVH assessments at each program gate, integrating propulsion systems into vehicles to meet NVH targets, and presenting findings to management. You will also optimize propulsion systems' value while maintaining NVH character, act as a liaison between Propulsion System and Vehicle organizations, and drive process improvements for operational and economic efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead NVH activities on propulsion systems (conventional and/or electrified) for all responsible programs.
- Ensure NVH assessments are conducted at each program gate and engage release teams to implement NVH enablers into the final design.
- Support NVH activities to integrate the propulsion system into the vehicle and achieve NVH vehicle targets.
- Prepare and present clear and concise presentations for management reviews.
- Lead value optimization (VO) activities of propulsion systems while maintaining intended NVH character at the product/vehicle level.
- Act as the liaison between the Propulsion System organization and Vehicle organization regarding NVH attributes on a system level.
- Lead process improvement actions in the organization to improve operational and economic efficiencies.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or other equivalent related engineering degree from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum of 5 years of NVH engineering experience.
- Fundamental understanding of propulsion and vehicle system NVH.
- Hands-on automotive experience in propulsion systems NVH, including conventional and Hybrid ICE, electric motors, gearboxes, and power inverter modules.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Proven capability in optimally using NVH measurements and tools (e.g., LMS Test.Lab, HEAD Acoustics Artemis, Rotec, Mueller BBM, Matlab, Simulink).
- Experience with sound pressure measurement for propulsion systems per SAE J1074, sound intensity and sound power measurements per ISO 3744 & 3745, vehicle interior noise measurements (SAE J336), sound quality measurements and analysis.
- NVH root-cause analysis using Transfer Path, Modal, and Angle Domain Analysis.
- Proven record of solving technical problems and addressing current issues in the field of Propulsion System NVH (conventional and Hybrid ICE, electric motors, gearboxes, and power inverter modules).
- Solid understanding of Digital Signal Processing (FFT) and ability to work with electronic control modules (ECMs) and the latest CAN communication protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or other equivalent related engineering degree from an ABET accredited university.
- Prior experience leading product development at an automotive OEM.
- Ability to be very adaptable and accept changes.
