Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week.
However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary:
The Laboratory Lead I is responsible for ensuring efficient day-to-day operations including work assignment, workflow, quality, and compliance. Perform bench work and provide technical guidance to staff dedicated to meeting client needs in a timely and accurate manner and providing proactive assistance by identifying and resolving issues. Additionally, the Lead will conduct regular meetings with the associates in the Biologist group, working with the Manager to address associate concerns and provide feedback.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Serve as a technical leader of the LEM biologist group, providing direction and training on SOPs and techniques used in the operations
- Onboarding new associates
- Lab specific safety training
- Be the liaison between the client and the company to receive information regarding changes in processes, workflow, safety requirements or other information that flows through to the team – this includes providing status updates to the client
- Ensure accurate and prompt client service, including but not limited to technical inquiries, program requirements and reporting, and adjusting workflows to meet priorities
- Communicate significant client issues to N+1 for resolution.
- Subject matter expert, and trainer on experimental techniques used by associates in the LEM group
- Be able to troubleshoot, offer guidance or support where needed in partnership with the Manager
- Interpret, write and present technical protocols and reports
- Ensure compliance with systems and applicable SOPs. May initiate and conduct investigations for OOS, deviations, and CAPAs
- Work with upper management and/or HR to resolve all associate issues
- Responsible for, demonstrates, and holds team accountable for safe work environment.
- Comply with all safety and confidentiality policies and protocols. Report on safety incidents or near misses in real time to the Manager
- Report team feedback to the N+1 on a daily/weekly or monthly basis on milestones, goals, progress.
- Provide regular updates to manager regarding workload, new/updated tasks, and associate performance
- Perform eLN training and guidance to LEM biologist team where needed and ensure eLN entries and corrections are made in accordance to the SOP guidelines
- Offer problem resolution, as applicable, for any client issues identified, highlighted or questioned with the aim of enhancing client satisfaction and improving client relations.

Education and Experience:
- Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or closely related field
- Minimum of one (1) year of lab experience in related research
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in leadership
Preferences:
- Experience in a highly detail-oriented laboratory environment
- ELISA and liquid handling experience
- Experimental design; scientific approach to problem solving; method development, optimization, and validation
- Experience in a regulated (for example, Good Laboratory Practices [GLP], Good Clinical Practices [GCP], Good Manufacturing Practices [GMP]) environment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
