Role: Lift Specialist

Location: UK based, Nationwide travel and must be willing to travel internationally when required

Package: Competitive Salary + £4,800 Car Allowance / Company Car + Fuel Card, Up to 12% Pension, Health Care, and other Flexible benefits

Role Purpose: Working within the Lift Team and supporting the Technical Manager– Engineering Services in delivering Approved Body Services against the Lift Regulations. Operating within agreed authority and according to Bureau Veritas technical philosophy and strategies and provide conformity assessment, approved body services and non-accredited services within the Lift discipline and within agreed competence levels.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Lift Regulations UKCA and CE + UKNI accredited services to our clients.
  • Provide non-accredited lift services to our clients.
  • Commit to development within the Lift Specialist role towards competence sign off for:
    • Schedule 11 – Type-Examination of Lifts / Safety Components for Lifts
    • Schedule 12 – Final Inspection of Lifts
    • Schedule 15 - Conformity Based On Unit Verification For Lifts
    • Schedule 16 - Conformity To Type With Random Checking For Safety Components For Lifts
    • Schedule 17 - Conformity To Type Based On Product Quality Assurance For Lifts
    • Schedule 18 - Conformity Based On Full Quality Assurance Plus Design Examination For Lifts
    • Schedule 19 - Conformity To Type Based On Production Quality Assurance For Lifts
  • Proactively work in line with the BV Core Values and Code of Ethics and effective implementation of the Approved Body and Engineering Technical Services vision
  • Work in accordance and agreement with our group policy for “Impartiality and Conflicts of Interest” and BV UK Procedure for “Impartiality and Conflicts of Interest”.
  • Proactively implement the technical standards, procedures, and service levels of the Approved Body – Lift Regulations for Bureau Veritas UK.
  • Provide technical expertise within the Lift Regulations.
  • Keep up to date with developments in Standards and Legislation affecting Approved body – Lift Services and support the Technical Manager when implementing change.
  • Act as a LEAD Auditor in line with the applicable standards.

Experience / Skills Required

Essential
•Knowledge of Lift Conformity Assessment.
•Knowledge of Lift Safety Components Conformity Assessment.
•Knowledge of the UK Lift Regulations and European Lift Directive.
•Knowledge of BS EN 81 Standards and ISO 12100.
•Knowledgeable in the requirements for Approved Bodies services.
•Auditing experience.
•Excellent communication skills, including ability to write detailed technical reports and procedures.
•Good knowledge of market, industry trends, developments and changes in legislation.
•Understanding of the safety rules and associated codes of practice that are applicable to lift installations and systems.
•Understanding of drawings and manufacturing literature relevant to the lift installations / safety component and systems to be tested and examined.
•Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
•Experience in lift installation inspection.

Desirable
•Previous experience as a Lift / Engineering Consultant / Surveyor.
•Understanding of the inspection and maintenance requirements of lift installations and systems.
•Undertaking condition surveys.
•Experience in delivering technical training.

Qualifications Required:


Essential
•Minimum HNC / NVQ Level 4 equivalent in a relevant engineering field, such as Lift Engineering
•UK Driver’s license
