POSITION PROFILE
Job Title: Assistant Controller – Fuels North America
Reports to: Division Finance Controller
Department: Finance
Location: Remote (3-5 days per month in office)
Basic Purpose: What is the overall function of the job?
This role will be assisting on leading the company’s financial month end closing process, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and internal analysis efforts. The main responsibility is to provide analytical support and sound strategic and financial advice to the management team and to the Business Controller.
Key Accountability/Responsibilities: What specifically is this job expected to accomplish?
Month end closing
· Responsible for the P&L of the business operations, ensuring all necessary entries are booked and discrepancies are explained.
- Prepare and records the month end revenue and costs accruals
- Prepare and record inventory quarterly adjustments
- Review AR and record monthly provision for bad debt
- Prepare allocations of central and functional costs center
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Perform ad-hoc P&L variance analysis, as required, identifying areas of opportunity and cost savings.
- Recommend to management team ways to reduce/manage expenses.
- Build financial models for the US business operations, as required.
- Monitor capital spending in the division
- Answering the requests that may arise from the operating group; Assist in maintaining and monitoring financial and operational controls related to financial planning.
- Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including, revenue drivers, operating costs and leading/lagging indicators, and benchmarking analysis.
- Assist with financial system implementation/upgrades.
- Serve as the analytics hub to advise our leadership of the impact of business decisions and opportunities for financial improvement.
- Support in mid-year and year end external audit
- Support in Internal control process and application
Budgeting and Forecasting
· Support the budget process. This involves active participation in the LOB’s budget process including exploring and analyzing
- Support of quarterly forecast, including any analysis required to finalize revenue/expenses/OP forecasts
- Monitor budget/forecast adherence and provide insights on deviations, ensuring financial targets are met.
Skills and Knowledge: What skills and knowledge are used to carry out job responsibilities and solve problems?
· Undergraduate Business Degree.
· CPA Accounting designation or working towards.
· 5 – 7 years related experience at a senior financial analyst or senior accountant
· Excellent verbal and written communication and decision-making skills.
· Strong computer skills including spreadsheet modeling and data mining.
· Ability to understand business process and continuous improvement.
· Team player with strong interpersonal skills, and good listener.
· Good organization skills and ability to multi-task.
· Detail oriented with the ability to see the big picture.
· Good judgment and decision making skills.
· Quick learning & energetic personality that can work independently in a multi-tasking fast paced environment.
