Are you ready to lead high-impact projects in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector? At Equans Sci-Tech we are expanding our specialist team and looking for an Operations Manager – Pharma & Cleanrooms to deliver excellence in fit out works across complex, regulated environments.

The Operations Manager – Pharma & Cleanrooms will be responsible for overseeing the delivery, performance and operational excellence of projects in mission critical pharmaceutical environments i.e. cleanrooms and laboratories. This role ensures the build, fit-out and maintenance of the project sites are operated to the highest standards for safety, compliance and reliability.

The successful candidate will drive performance and coordination between the site teams and ensure client satisfaction. The role requires hands-on management and strong project leadership of all design, construction, commissioning and installation works of the mission critical environments. They will champion all continuous improvement initiatives and embed best practice across the project sites. The role will require travel to project sites on a regular basis.

What you will deliver?

  • Lead end-to-end operations for construction and commission of critical environments.
  • Ensure projects meet critical standard and client specifications.
  • Oversee scheduling, resource allocation and cost control for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Manage project teams and train, mentor and develop the operational teams.
  • Be a primary point of contact for clients and address their needs, resolve operational issues and ensure smooth handovers.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimise efficiency and reliability.
  • Champion health & safety, ensuring zero accidents and adherence to any pharma specific regulations.
  • Develop and control detailed install and construction schedules aligned with overall project milestones.
  • Liaise closely with design teams, commissioning engineers and project managers to resolve technical and logistical challenges associated with fit-out works.
  • Supervise and direct subcontracts, ensuring all works comply with relevant standards, specifications and contractual requirement.
  • Conduct regular inspections, quality checks and implement timely resolution of defects or non-conformance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on fit-out techniques, productivity enhancements and best practice.
  • Ensure project milestones are met, within budget and quality standards.
  • Act as a company ambassador, upholding the highest standards in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven experience in operations/project management for mission critical environments i.e. pharma, biotech, cleanrooms etc
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of managing high performing teams
  • Results drives with budget management and financial acumen
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Degree or equivalent in an Engineering, Construction or related discipline would be desirable
