We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Logistics Operative to join our Facilities Management team at a central government building in Westminster. This is a permanent role working 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute unpaid break.

The role:

  • Reporting to the Logistics Manager
  • To assist in the delivery of the Logistics porterage service, following the goods in and scanning procedures and support the various mailroom and logistics scope of services.
  • To provide Mail & Messenger porter services within the government contract
  • To deliver Ministers' newspapers and press cuttings
  • To collate and sort the incoming mail for each daily run, and deliver mail in accordance with agreed times
  • To assist with the scanning of pre-booked packages, using the mail room scanning machines. To assist with the arrivals system and onwards delivery of scanned packages
  • To collect and process all outgoing Mail, using equipment such as franking machines
  • To assist with other duties that fall in line within the general remit of the Logistics & Porters team as instructed by the Supervisor or Manager
  • To help support other mailroom duties, such as sorting and delivering customer stationery deliveries
  • To assist with all duties required to deliver an effective mail and messenger service on behalf of the client
  • Working 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute unpaid break.

The person:

  • Must have worked in a similar role ideally in a mailroom or postroom environment
  • Flexible attitude and adaptability are essential
  • Knowledge of X-ray machine
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience with postal equipment, radios and rapiscan machine would be desirable
  • Relevant H&S training, i.e. lOSH also desirable
  • Please note - Employment in this post is dependent upon obtaining security clearance' this requires 5 years' continuous residency in the UK and a valid British or EU passport.
