About the Role:
As a Sales Manager in a 50-person highly skilled design bureau specializing in rolling stock modification for the UK railway sector, you will be responsible for driving business growth by securing new contracts with existing clients and developing new customer relationships. You will prioritize commercial efforts to maximize the order book and maintain a healthy sales pipeline. This role also involves promoting DG8’s capabilities within the rail industry and leveraging the expertise and reach of the wider group to fuel sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify and secure new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the railway industry.
- Prioritize commercial activities to maximize revenue and ensure a robust sales pipeline.
- Promote DG8’s services and capabilities across the UK rail sector.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align sales strategies with technical capabilities and project delivery.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic planning.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
- Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals.
Requirements:
- Proven track record in sales or business development within the railway sector, preferably involving engineering or project‑based services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
- Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen.
- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable:
- Experience in rolling stock modification or railway engineering services.
- Understanding of procurement processes within the UK rail industry.
- Familiarity with DG8’s service offerings and group structure.
