Under general supervision of the Security Manager, the Security Dispatcher will be responsible for monitoring the overall safety of the on-site ArcelorMittal Texas HBI LLC personnel and contractors by following procedures and guidelines put in place by ArcelorMittal Texas HBI LLC. The person will be trained to comply with ArcelorMittal Texas HBI FSP and 33CFR105.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Knows, understands, and follows all Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements.
  • Operate a multi-line telephone console system
  • Operate an alerting system and translate appropriate codes to the right on site personnel
  • Receive and dispatch orders for products or deliveries received 24/7
  • Process in new or returning visitors into the database and ensure safety procedures are enforced before visitors enter into the facility
  • Use and monitor radios, phone or computers to send crews, vehicles or other field units to appropriate locations in the event of an emergency
  • Determine and assign the level of priority of the call and enter the data into a computer-aided dispatch system for radio dispatch purposes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Emergency Response Team members to facilitate emergency personnel into the right area during an incident
  • Ask vital questions and provide pre-arrival instructions for emergency calls
  • Receive and respond to a variety of emergency and non-emergency services and complaints
  • Ask questions to interpret, analyze and anticipate the caller’s situation as to resolve problems, provide information, dispatch emergency services, or refer callers to other personnel in the plant
  • Prioritize, coordinate, notify, and dispatch the appropriate personnel
  • Identify appropriate number and type of equipment or apparatus to dispatch
  • Enters and modifies information into computer databases hourly or as directed by supervision
  • Monitor and respond to a variety of technical systems and alarms
  • Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information
  • Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions
  • Receive and dispatch orders for products or deliveries
  • Confer with customers or supervising personnel in order to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment
  • Schedule and dispatch workers, work crews, equipment, or service vehicles to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using radios or telephones.
  • Prepare daily work and run schedules
  • Receive or prepare work orders
  • Familiarity with wireless emergency notification paging software
  • Enforcing and monitoring access control into the facility
  • Oversee all communications within specifically assigned territories.
  • Monitor and operate security monitoring systems to review incidents as requested by supervision
  • Record and maintain files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information
  • Monitor weather patterns and report any pending inclement weather to the Security Manager
  • Performs other duties assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a dispatcher
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing. Skills will be used to produce quality reports and thorough instructions and directions
  • Have the ability to work inside as well as outside in all weather conditions
  • Be able to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Prior experience a plus on reporting incidents to Department of Homeland Security, Customs Border Patrol, TCEQ, OSHA, GLO, HALO Flight
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC-card
