At Anyscale, we're on a mission to democratize distributed computing and make it accessible to software developers of all skill levels. We’re commercializing Ray, a popular open-source project that's creating an ecosystem of libraries for scalable machine learning. Companies like OpenAI, Uber, Spotify, Instacart, Cruise, and many more, have Ray in their tech stacks to accelerate the progress of AI applications out into the real world.

With Anyscale, we’re building the best place to run Ray, so that any developer or data scientist can scale an ML application from their laptop to the cluster without needing to be a distributed systems expert.

Proud to be backed by Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, and Addition with $250+ million raised to date.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a Head of Events to build and scale Anyscale’s developer event program — from meetups to flagship conferences and everything in between.

As the Head of Events, you’ll architect and execute a full-funnel events program that drives awareness, builds community, educates users, and accelerates deals. You’ll combine strategic vision with operational excellence — designing experiences that connect developers and decision-makers to the power of Ray and Anyscale.

This is a player-coach role: you’ll lead by doing — rolling up your sleeves to plan and execute events — while also building and managing a small team of community and field marketers. Over time, you’ll scale this into a global function that amplifies the Anyscale and Ray ecosystem across every region.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Program Leadership

  • Develop and own a global event program that aligns to every stage of the funnel — from awareness and community activation to education and sales acceleration

  • Define the right event mix: flagship conferences, community meetups, industry sponsorships, virtual webinars, and regional field events

  • Partner closely with DevRel, PMM, sales, and product to ensure event strategy reinforces company priorities and launches

Execution & Operations

  • Manage end-to-end event execution — from concept and content to logistics, promotion, and measurement

  • Oversee event budgets, vendor relationships, contracts, and performance reporting

  • Ensure every event delivers measurable impact on brand awareness, community engagement, and pipeline creation

Community & Developer Engagement

  • Build programs that strengthen the Ray and Anyscale communities — fostering connection among open source contributors, practitioners, and enterprise adopters

  • Partner with Developer Relations to host technical workshops, hackathons, and community-driven experiences that educate and inspire

  • Identify and empower local champions and ambassadors to extend Anyscale’s presence organically

Sales Acceleration & Customer Activation

  • Collaborate with sales to design event experiences that move prospects through the funnel

  • Drive customer participation in speaking opportunities, demos, and case studies at events

  • Create executive and practitioner touchpoints that help convert interest into revenue

Measurement & Optimization

  • Define KPIs and dashboards to measure event ROI — including attendance, engagement, pipeline impact, and community growth

  • Continuously analyze performance data to refine strategy and drive scale

Leadership & Team Building

  • Manage and mentor a small team of event and community marketers (initially 1 direct report, scaling to a global team)

  • Establish scalable processes, playbooks, and best practices for repeatable success

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in event marketing, field marketing, or community programs at developer-focused or open-source-driven companies

  • Proven track record of building integrated event programs that drive measurable business impact across the funnel

  • Deep understanding of developer and technical buyer audiences — empathy for what resonates with engineers, data scientists, and AI practitioners

  • Experience managing in-person and virtual events globally, from technical workshops to large-scale conferences

  • Strong operational rigor: budgeting, logistics, vendor management, and cross-functional leadership

  • Creative and strategic mindset: ability to craft experiences that educate, inspire, and convert

  • Experience managing and scaling teams, with a hands-on, collaborative leadership style

Bonus: background in open source community building and marketing to developers or ML/AI infrastructure audiences
