Job Description:
Airbus is looking for a Systems Engineer III (Flight Simulator) to join the team in Miami, Florida.
In this role you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and managing complex training device systems across their entire lifecycle. You will lead the engineering tasks, programs, strategic processes and techniques for maintaining hardware and software solutions for our flight simulator training devices, with a focus on ensuring that the simulations accurately reflect real-world aircraft performance and behavior.
Other facets of the role include:
Works in a 24/7 maintenance operations environment, AOG events and routine maintenance/engineering assignments. Assures customers receive outstanding and timely service, makes decisions on the best course of action to return the training device back to safe operations.
Escalates issues as required to Duty Officer or Managers.
Keeps customers and Manager informed of the maintenance situation and time to get a fix.

Our Flight Simulator Engineers collaborate with a diverse team of simulator manufacturers, simulator technicians and training instructors to ensure operational and reliability goals are met on a wide variety of flight simulator equipment used for training by global airlines.

Your Challenges:
Primary Responsibilities: 95%
Risk & Issue Management
Acts as FTD Subject Matter Expert to resolve complex training device defects.
Manage the ATC-MIA engineering discrepancies manifest in MyTeam.
Support the Simulator Maintenance Team during AOG and training interruption events.
Systems Design, Integration & Implementation
Elicit, define, and document stakeholder and systems requirements.
Develop high-level FTD systems designs and architectures (as applicable).
Oversee integration of FTD hardware, software, and network components.
Support FTD systems from concept through disposal (design, deployment, upgrades).
Lifecycle Management
Analyze system performance and recommend improvements.
Manage FTD version control, configuration, and change management.
Manage software system back-ups post changes.
Manage Field Service Bulletin updates released by the OEMs.
Collaboration & Communication
Effectively communicates with stakeholders on the status, recommendations and risks related to the technical operations, projects, resources, customers and vendors.
Provide technical expertise and support to the region with special projects (if required).
Evaluate OEM Maintenance specifications and support training to team members (as required).
Additional Responsibilities: 5%
ISMS focal for ATCs: serves as a point of contact to raise alerts and communicate in the event of an issue involving a supporting asset
Your Boarding Pass:
6 years of experience in the field of flight simulator maintenance or flight simulator engineering
Minimum 3 years’ experience managing projects + stakeholders (FSTD HW/SW) updates
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Aeronautical, Electrical, Computer Science preferred or 10 years combination of equivalent experience and education.
Must posses FSTM Skills testing Score of Level 3 and average 80% , or required to achieve within first year
Expert knowledge of Level D Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD) operation, maintenance, and modifications in accordance with applicable qualification standards.
Must demonstrate the ability to repair avionics, computers, electronics, visual, electric motion, networks, and related technical systems, down to the component level.
Expert knowledge of FSTD Qualification Test Guides (QTG), aircraft performance, handling qualities and synthetic environment of an FSTD.
Experience with managing projects (required).
10% Domestic and International travel expectation
US citizenship is required
Physical Requirements:
Lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend and stand for long periods of time move/work within cramped spaces.
Work rotating shifts including weekends.
