Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Material Handler to join our Material Management Team based in Columbus, MS.

Perform warehouse functions within assigned area(s), requiring the receiving and checking of materials from vendors, sub-contractors or other sources, stocking materials in keeping with established procedures and locations, pulling and issuing materials and parts for shop requirements, or pulling and shipping customer orders. Performing inventory cycle counts and researching inventory problems in the SAP system. Asist in running warehouse operations in absence of warehouse supervisor.

Your challenges:

  • Receiving/Stocking/Picking: 40%

  • Inspect shipments and record damages or defects, notifying supervisor and/or purchasing personnel of same.

  • Receive incoming materials, supplies, and equipment to compare information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipments.

  • Ensure all supplies and equipment received for departments or projects are processed and distributed in a timely manner.

  • Insure incoming shipsets for production are prioritized in order to fully support lines.

  • Communicate directly to internal and external customers to help coordinate their needs in an efficient way.

  • Records/Shipping: 30%

  • Prepare or complete all required forms, records and documents in order to assure accountability for all transactions required to maintain the integrity of warehouse operations.

  • Prepare bills of lading involved in the shipment of materials and notify customers of bill of lading number, date and method of shipment, and other pertinent information.

  • Expedite shipments made to customers requesting special handling or rush orders.

  • Inventory Control/Material Handling Equipment: 30%

  • Run, assist and review inventory cycle counts assuring inventory is reported accurately and correctly.

  • Work with light parts, materials and tools, which are generally less than fifty (50) pounds.

  • Ensure the warehouse is maintained in a neat and orderly manner.

  • Ensure all AOG’s demands from internal customers are processed in timely manner as to avoid production shut down and meet delivery schedules.

  • This person will be responsible to determine when an issue should be elevated to the warehouse supervisor for support and not be hesitant to seek support quickly when needed to avoid issues and delays in production.

  • Should be able to determine proper interdepartmental needs and reach out independently to those contacts as needed to either provide support or seek support as needed.

  • This person should know company processes and procedures sufficiently enough to assign tasks and handle common problems in the absence of the warehouse supervisor.

  • This person will need to be able to communicate, prioritize and coordinate the demands placed on the warehouse with other departments on a daily basis.

  • This position contribute directly to the success of the company by insuring parts and materials arrive to the production lines and back shops in a timely manner in an effort to keep work flowing and meet delivery schedules.

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
