Job Description:

Head of Finance, Airbus Ventures
Airbus Ventures is looking for a Head of Finance to serve as a key leader in our fast-paced venture capital firm. This individual will be a strategic and hands-on professional responsible for overseeing all financial operations for both the firm and its investment funds. This is a critical role that requires mandatory experience in venture capital finance and a deep understanding of fund administration, regulatory compliance, and international markets. We are a small, dedicated team looking for a candidate that can both think strategically and roll up their sleeves to execute independently.

Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Reporting

  • Lead all aspects of firm and fund accounting across 3+ investment vehicles.

  • Ensure different accounting principles are properly applied across between firm, fund, and corporate accounts.

  • Instruct the fund administrator on financial statement preparation, and be responsible for the review, preparation, and approval of all financial statements.

  • Manage and oversee Fund Administration relationships. Instruct the fund administrator on financial statement preparation. You will be responsible for reviewing and approving all financial statements.

  • Participate in and organize weekly meetings with Airbus Ventures and key stakeholders.

  • Maintain the firm's valuation policy.

  • Manage internal financial reporting database and reporting tools, and solicit

  • feedback from the team to ensure adoption of Finance Factory (i.e. SQL database with LookerStudio visualization).

  • Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for Airbus Ventures and its investment vehicles.

2. Treasury

  • Banking and broker relationships

  • Robust treasury process

  • Experience with currency management

  • Maintain treasury policy

3. Compliance and Audit

  • Lead regulatory and accounting compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to the standards of public companies and other international accounting and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage financial audits for all entities. You will instruct auditors, prepare for audits, and lead the execution of audits by gathering information from all stakeholders and attending follow-up meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accounting requirements applicable to our management company and funds.

4. Financial Controls (Budgeting and Forecasting)

  • Management Company Expense Management: Track, approve, and pay expenses for the management company.
  • Fund Entity Expense Management: Budget, forecast, track, and approve expenses for all fund entities. This includes assigning fund expense allocations
  • and ensuring timely payment of expenses.
  • Financial Controls: Create and maintain internal financial controls, policies, and a comprehensive calendar of all annual deadlines. Manage risk management and stress testing.

5. Tax

  • Prepare accounting information for external partners to support tax filings.
  • Instruct external partners to prepare and submit tax structuring and filings


6. External & Internal Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for coordination with internal and external partners, including participating in weekly meetings with Airbus Ventures and key stakeholders. Requires heavy partnership and coordination with the investment function to ensure proper figures are provided to Investment Strategy/ IR leads for deployment strategy and LP engagement.

Qualifications
● Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years leading finance within a venture capital firm or fund administrator.
● Expertise: Deep expertise in venture capital fund accounting, financial modelling, and investor relations. Proven experience with international financial markets and regulatory frameworks.
● Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A CPA or CFA designation is highly preferred.
● Skills: Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency with financial software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
● Mindset: A proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven professional with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This position can be a remote opportunity, as long as the candidate is willing to travel. Due to our work all around the globe, at times, we have to flucuate our schedules to accomodate our partners in Europe and Japan, and other geographies well outside the U.S. time zones.

You must either have a current United States passport, or be eligible to attain one in order to be considered for this opportunity. Traveling outside the U.S. is a requirement for this position.

  • Equipment Operation: daily use of personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors.

  • Carrying: Daily able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs.

  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on a computer.

  • Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on a production floor.

  • Travel: 10% of time able to travel independently and at short notice.

  • Walking : Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: If visiting a factory - Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
