How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

This role focuses on the management of existing facilities and also ensures and enables growth of the business through a strong support for new products and new projects developed within the region of responsibility. He/she works with all functions in the business, including engineering, product management, sales, R&D and operations to ensure understanding of HSES requirements and constraints and the proper implementation of the HSES programs. Within its scope of responsibility, the role provides technical HSES expertise and leadership across the business as well as within the HSES organization.

This role reports to the Global HSES Senior Director and supports 5 US locations. The HSES teams of these locations report to her/him. Within this perimeter and with her/his team, in coordination with the Global HSES Senior director and with the support of the Global HSES teams, the APAC HSES Director.
  • Leads and supports her/his HSES teams and supporting the execution leaders,

  • Ensures the proper implementation of the HSES standards and ALAM programs by the execution teams and the development of the safety as a core value at all levels of the organization,

  • Serves the business through HSES expertise and works effectively with the various functions, educating them and aligning on shared strategies and goals,

  • Works beyond ALAM with other Air Liquide entities and professional associations to leverage learnings, create and/or improve local and ALAM standards,

  • Keeps current with changing global regulations and standards, and communicating proposed and impending changes to ensure that business continuity and the compliance is maintained,

  • Drives a culture of “Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time” and drives continuous improvement in safety,

  • Ensures that the execution teams are properly trained and competent in matter of HSES, proposes or requires additional training when useful,

  • Identifies needs for coordination and support with the Global HSES teams,

  • Supports new product and processes development to provide expertise on safety requirements and implements the needs for stage gate progress,

  • Integrates environmental management and sustainability issues in accordance with the policies developed by the Environmental & Regulation team,

  • Supports the Global HSES teams for evaluating the HSES impacts of capital projects when needed,

  • Support and coach the HSES team within her/his region to ensure a continuous development of the team competencies and a high level of commitment within the team

Are you a MATCH?

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in a Science or Technical based field. Chemical Engineering preferred.

  • 10+ years experience working with highly hazardous chemicals including toxic, flammable, pyrophoric in a global environment.

  • 10+ years experience in interpreting global regulatory requirements.

  • 5+ years experience leading HSES professionals.

  • 10+ years experience identifying improvements in work processes, management systems and implementing them successfully.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multitask.

  • Accountable behavior, follows up on his/her commitments, negotiates delays effectively and proactively.

  • Ability to communicate concisely and effectively in written and verbal formats with stakeholders at multiple levels in the business.

  • Ability to interact successfully across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to train and mentor HSES Site managers and others within ALAM.

  • Ability to work and travel globally.
