Job Description

The Chef de Partie (Bakery) is responsible for overseeing the section of the bakery kitchen, ensuring consistent production of high-quality baked goods. This role includes preparation, baking, finishing, and plating of bread, pastries, and other bakery items. The CDP is expected to maintain hygiene and safety standards, support junior staff, and contribute to new product development

  • Prepare, bake, and finish bakery products including breads, viennoiseries, cakes, tarts, and specialty items.

  • Manage inventory and ensure proper storage of ingredients and baked goods.

  • Follow standardized recipes and production schedules to meet daily demand.

  • Supervise and train Commis Chefs in bakery techniques and hygiene practices.

  • Ensure section cleanliness and comply with all food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP standards).

  • Collaborate with the Head Baker and Sous Chef to develop new recipes and seasonal items.

  • Monitor quality control to maintain consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation.

  • Ensure timely execution of orders for retail, catering, or special events.

  • Assist in stock rotation and daily ordering of ingredients for the section.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (2–4 years) in a bakery or pastry kitchen in a similar role.

  • Culinary or bakery certification from a recognized institute preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, fermentation, dough handling, and pastry skills.

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with team members.
